Event Description Free and open to the public; A native of Bethlehem, Palestine, Daoud Nassar is a Palestinian Christian, fluent in Arabic, German and English. Annually, nearly 4,000 international tourists visit the Nassar family's ancestral land—a 100-acre hilltop site situated between Bethlehem and Hebron in the West Bank. The attraction is the Tent of Nations, an open and free enclave that serves as an educational and cultural center for local Palestinians and Israelis, including the international visitors.
Tent of Nations is located on land owned by the Nassar family since the grandfather purchased the land in 1916. The Israeli Military Administration is threatening to illegally confiscate 70% of this land although the family has possession of all land registration documents. The Nassar family has been in battle with the Israeli courts for more than 18 years as the Israeli Military continues to defer the case due to lack of evidence and no proof of land documentation on their part. The family has spent tens of thousands of dollars on legal fees. In the face of Israeli road blockades, the family has rallied the international community to help get their agricultural products to market. Nassar is committed to the belief that nonviolent resistance will bring a just peace to Palestine and Israel. For more info, visit www.tentofnations.org. Friends of Tent of Nations North America (www.fotonna.org) is also helping to sponsor this trip, and tax-deducible donations may be made directly at that site. |
